Mini-Bio on this artist:
Cris Michaels, a musician/artist/teacher from Northeast Pennsylvania detests throwing anything away so in her home a miriad of items gets repaired, updated or recycled into something new.
"I have always enjoyed giving handmade gifts.", a hobby which has also led Cris into 'remaking' jewelry, clothing and other useful items for years. "I finally decided that with all the positive feedback I was receiving it was time to put myself and my ideas out there in the world."
Her first offerings are her album popcorn bowls and dustbuster mitts but she says there are lots more ideas where they came. "I love making hats too (from recycled goods, of course!) and have been approached on the street with inquiries about my original designs."
Cris has also written, produced, and starred in her own local access television show. "I loved the whole creative process involved with the program. Costumes, lighting, set design, music, interviews, commercials...I did it all. And, I think it would be great to have my own 'Creative Home' show someday. Move over Martha!" Two things she admires most in people is their capacity for generosity and ingenuity. "I collect articles about other people's great ideas because their accomplishments inspire me." "Thanks for helping to make a difference...recycle." |
