2. Saving Time & Money while Staying Safer According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), rubber mulch made from recycled tires provides superior shock absorption well within the established ASTMI criteria, and the environment becomes ADA compliant when a handicap accessible walkway is installed between the parking area and the equipment transfer station. The main areas of the SAFE model developed by the National Program for Playground Safety (NPPS) rating public playground safety is fall surfacing, supervision, age appropriate design & equipment maintenance. One tip for maintaining the depth of any loose-fill playground surfacing material is to mark the posts with a permanent line at the recommended depth, such as 6" for rubber mulch, and keep the material raked into place at that marked level.
3. What's Your Opinion? - Submit your answer to this month's Close the Loop® Poll: What is your favorite eco-friendly vacation spot? To respond, click here. Thanks for last newsletter answers to what have you done to "green" your home or business. Here's some of the answers: We recycle whenever possible, take unusable trash to recycle receptacles, use environmentally safe cleaning products, talk to friends and relatives about doing the same. The biggest drawbacks that I have come across are....if a community doesn't have a recycle program where they leave bins for you to use and put on the curb once a week...people generally just throw everything into the regular trash because they don't have time to go to different recycling centers, etc.
